Night is my first original character (OC) designed for the Classic instalments of the Devil May Cry series.I consider his character a jump from the usual 'Son of Sparda' schtick nowadays as I've completely redesigned his character from his initial inception back in 2007.Night was originally just another 'Son of Sparda' thing that became a half brother to the Sparda boys in 2009. Fast-forward to 2016 and I'd redesigned him to be the son of Mundus instead.

Night was born on an island off the shores of Fortuna called Exsecratus Isle.His mother was a great and powerful witch by the name of Lavinia Conner, leader of a cult known as the Blackweb Order. She and her cult had been avid worshippers of Mundus, and she bore Night after the Demon Emperor supposedly used her to make an example of human arrogance, pride and greed.As Lavinia would tell it, despite the trauma of the ordeal, she survived the encounter with Mundus and after Night was born, she cast a powerful spell over Exsecratus to shield it from both human and demon alike, leaving it in a space between the worlds where time flows much faster than that of either the human realm or the Underworld.Night was hailed as a gift and Prince of the Underworld by the members of the cult, but he fled the island and escaped to Fortuna at the age of ten when he'd learned he was to be used to try and overthrow and destroy Mundus to take over the Underworld for his mother.Upon his arrival in Fortuna, Night was taken in by the Order and placed under Agnus' care by Sanctus with the understanding that he was to earn his keep when he was old enough if he wanted to stay in Fortuna.At the age of fifteen, he officially joined the Order of the Sword as a knight, keeping his demonic heritage a secret, though it was clear that Sanctus was well aware of his heritage.Night struggled to earn the trust of the people of Fortuna during the first ten years of his life there, but he gained the city's favour during the Saviour Incident after his remarkable contributions and efforts to evacuate everyone.After the Saviour Incident, Night remained a member of the Order of the Sword in the hopes that he could turn it into something good for Fortuna, rising to the ranks of a Senior Knight and forming his own unit to protect the people from attacks by demons, though he is still careful to hide his demonic heritage from them all, Nero being the only colleague still alive that he's told anything.Though born to Mundus, Night is not considered the rightful heir to the throne of the Underworld by many of his father's followers due to his half human blood and illegitimate conception. Night himself completely renounces his heritage and uses his demonic power to fight against Mundus for the sake of humanity, though a small part of it was done in revenge for what he was led to believe had happened to his mother.Despite all this however, Night is incredibly curious about his father, lamenting the thought that he may never know him or just how much like Mundus he may or may not be.Night uses two pistols called Pain and Panic that he had custom ordered from Nico as a means to help ease her and her business into Fortuna. Having been an outsider once himself, he knew the struggle of trying to earn the city's trust well and used his status within the Order to try and help bridge the gap between her and the city.
In addition to his pistols, Night also uses a sword very similar to Nero's Red Queen called Hades, though his is blue in colour and spits blue fire.As Night was under Agnus' care, he does have a great deal of familiarity with the research and technology left behind by the former, though he deems the estate Nico's and refuses to touch it until she decides to either do something with it or sign it over to the Order.
In the event it is signed over, Night intends to allow the people of Fortuna to decide if they want the Order of the Sword to take on the responsibility of safe guarding the research or if they want it destroyed.Occasionally Night works under contract as a devil hunter, sometimes at the behest of Devil May Cry if Nero is unavailable.Night does not speak of his true heritage, only vaguely explaining his power and the demonic blood without getting into detail unless he's cornered or forced to speak of it.

↠ Night was brought into the Order by Credo and used to work directly under him until Nero's turn to devil hunting through Devil May Cry↠ Night wears a white t-shirt with the Order of the Sword emblem on it underneath a black leather jacket.↠ Because of Night's heritage he can, to some extent, control lesser demons because their lacking intelligence prevents them from telling him apart from his father Mundus. To that effect, Night has been known to keep a few lesser demons as "pets" from time to time.↠ Despite all his talk and bravado and the association of such with his mothers cult, Night is utterly terrified of spiders and ghosts.↠ To make use of a number of his spells, Night carries around a small flip notebook and three paint pens in his pocket; a white one, a red one and a black one. Depending on the spell he's using it will dictate the colour of the paint he uses. White for healing and basic sealing techniques, red for offensive attack, more aggressive shrouds combined with his demonic power and travel, black for the more sinister and darker works.

↠ Night is the "illegitimate heir" to the throne Mundus left behind, but he wants nothing to do with it or the Underworld↠ Night rides a motorcycle similar to Dante's Cavalier. He's customized the vehicle and used research and technology left behind by Agnus to bind demon souls to the bike. Because the bike is essentially alive as a result of the demonic souls used to power it, Night can control it by whistling and it's capable of driving itself.↠ Due to his mother's heritage and status as a powerful and prominent witch within the cult Night was born into, Night himself is a bit of an avid magic user, though his power pales in comparison to that of his mother's. As such, he can manipulate a variety of things, people, weapons and, to some extent, the very space around himself.

Night's mother Lavinia.She has seen many changes since her original inception, but I've come to enjoy her character as it is now.No longer a simple plot device to bring Night's character into the world of devil hunting, but now a fleshed out character on her own that plays a major antagonistic force in Night's life.The very thing that drives him to defy his father Mundus and face the Underworld.

Far off the North shores of Fortuna is an island shrouded in thick fog; Exsecratus Isle.Here the black magic cult known as the Blackweb Order has lived and practised their magic and beliefs for centuries under the guise that it was impossible to live without demons among you.The original inception of the order was to live life in accordance to the hierarchy system in the Underworld they referred to as the great web of the Underworld, with each branch having its own lord to pay worship.At the centre of this web was the king of it all; Mundus.Growing up, Lavinia was fascinated by Mundus, dedicating her life to the practise and worship of the demon lord and turning the orders attention to his worship alone when she came of age and took her place at the helm of the order.At the age of thirteen, Lavinia discovered the existence of hell gates, devoting much of her time to the idea until she was strong enough to open one herself.Four years into her reign as the High Priestess, Lavinia had a statue of Mundus erected on the island and utilized her magic to open a gate into the Underworld, calling forth the remnants of Mundus' power from the statue within the vault of Mallet island and imbuing the new statue with it.Rather than acting as she'd expected, the statue became more of a conduit that allowed Mundus to manifest in a human form on the island. Determined to help him recover his strength in the human world, Lavinia sealed off the ceremonial grounds from the rest of the island, ensuring only she had contact with the demon emperor while he was there.Though Mundus himself would tell a different tale, Lavinia would say one fateful night, the demon emperor took advantage of her loyalty and dedication, using her to make an example of human pride, greed and arrogance to his followers and leaving her to die in that place.With the last of her magic strength the following day, Lavinia severed the bond between Mundus' power and the statue the people had come to worship, forcing what was left of him back into the statue within the vault of Mallet Island and sealing off the hell gate. After the gate was cutoff, Lavinia then cast a powerful spell over the entire island, shielding it from both human and demon alike.Nine months later, Lavinia gave birth to Mundus' son; Night.Declaring him a gift from the dark lord himself, Lavinia turned all worship and ceremonies to Night, making a show of his prowess by summoning all manners of creatures for Night to destroy and grow stronger.She led Night to believe that he was protecting his family and the people of Exsecratus from evil, teaching him to use her magic and grooming him into a brave and powerful warrior capable of rivalling even the power of the Sons of Sparda.On the eve of Night's tenth birthday, Lavinia summoned her most trusted colleagues of the cult and explained her plan to start sending him into the Underworld to expand their reach and groom him into the new King of the Underworld through use of the Qliphoth fruit she intended to grow in the nearby city of Fortuna.Before she could broach this with Night himself, the boy had run, having overheard the plans and her use of the term "weapon" when referring to him rather than calling him her son.With her plans to use the fruit of the Qliphoth born from the blood of those in Fortuna now thwarted, Lavinia was forced to reconsider her options, careful to keep a constant eye on Night's movements since his departure from Exsecratus, believing that one day Night would tire of his constant battles against the legacy left behind by his father and return to her and the Blackweb Order.To aid in the potential of him growing tired of things, Lavinia summoned and brainwashed many a demon she herself then sent after Night. It was done under the guise that they were sent by Mundus purely in the hopes to breed hatred in Night's heart for his father and force him to return to her so she could feed him the fruit of the Qliphoth and seal his power for her own use.--Despite what Lavinia has said, the reality of the night Mundus overpowered her was a result of Mundus growing tired of her insistence on being his queen and his insult when she tried to seal his power away to use him to control the Underworld for herself simply because she wanted to destroy Fortuna.After losing the battle against Mundus, Lavinia had willingly given herself to him in the hopes he would impregnate her, the intent being that she would carry his child so she could use his offspring to take Mundus' throne instead.Mundus had agreed to it simply because he was under the impression they were not biologically compatible.
